Forgotten Classics

Blog-friend Julie Davis has, in addition to her
Happy Catholic blog, a podcast called Forgotten Classics in which she reads aloud a variety of obscure but entertaining works from the public domain. I confess that I have never listened to Forgotten Classics; my daily commute is about ten minutes each way, and I can’t pay attention to a podcast while I’m writing software at work. Despite that, I’ve embarked on a bit of an endeavor; I’m going to be recording a few classics of my own, which Julie has graciously offered to host. The first, my overly dramatic reading of Lewis Carroll’s “Jabberwocky”, is now available, both at the Forgotten Classics blog, and through iTunes. Give it a listen!

  1. Our proxy server settings won’t allow us to download your podcast. Pity – I really wanted to hear you reading this. One of our daughters is memorizing the poem for school (not sure why). It would have been fun. Could you perhaps attach it as a WAV file to an email message to us?

  2. I’m not sure whether I can create a .WAV or not. If I send you a .mp3 file, will that work?

Also, did the link I give not work? Or were you not able to access the podcast on the page *at* that link?

  3. An MP3 file will work – we can play that on our computer. As for the link, it worked, but we could not “get in” because of proxy server settings. Probably to do with the high security to keep the bad stuff from being accessed by the innocent missionaries.
