Apparently, an extremist muslim group in the Philipines has bombed a government building and the local Catholic cathedral in the city of Basilan. The Philipines is a Catholic country, and an attack on a cathedral is a significant political and religious statement—it tells us something important about the motives of the bombers. And yet, somehow, CNN didn’t find the religious aspect worthy of comment. Sigh.
